WE DID IT!

At one week to go, we had 60 people registered and $2,500 in donations. I wasn’t nervous about the outcome, just cautiously optimistic! We had a long way to go to reach our $30,000 goal for water wells in Tanzania and Haiti. But what a difference a week makes. Last Sunday approximately 175 people dressed in blue Walk4Water shirts, walked with heavy water jugs around a 2 mile track and raised to date a total of $30,021. The Lord provides! Moreover other funds are in process or pledged to be given. I know we will continue to exceed our goal.

Why Some Say NO

On our first visit to Singing Oaks over 30 years ago, an elder and his wife invited us to their home group (that couple is still here). We were impressed. We soon joined a group that impacted our lives for many years to come, and still does because of the friendships we made. Not all the groups since that time have had the same influence, but all of them have impacted our life journey. I believe in the power of small groups, but Satan tempts us to say no! A Precious Gift

How important is water? If you go by the number of times water or words associated with water are mentioned in the Bible you have to rank it pretty high. REVIVE TEXAS

“Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful. And pray for us, too, that God may open a door for our message, so that we may proclaim the mystery of Christ, for which I am in chains. Pray that I may proclaim it clearly, as I should. Be wise in the way you act toward outsiders; make the most of every opportunity. Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone.” Colossians 4:2-6

I was reading through Colossians recently and came to one of my favorite sections, and since we’ve been involved with the Revive Texas outreach effort for the last 7 weeks it totally reminded me of what they are all about.

Future Fellowship

The importance of having close relationships in the community of believers is hard to overstate. It is a vital part of the abundant life in Christ. “So with you: Now is your time of grief” – John 16:22a
Jesus had been with his disciples for 3 years, and they were close to each other. They had just eaten the Passover together for the last time, a Passover that Luke tells us Jesus eagerly desired to eat with them. Their close fellowship provided strength to overcome the rough times ahead for the disciples and for Jesus. But that sweet fellowship was about to be broken. The days of grief, the dark time of the cross was fast approaching. Jesus had to leave!
