In May members of Singing Oaks and others from our community gave a large sum of money for water wells in Africa. The first two wells are in progress and one is near completion. On November 18 our mission team will be leaving to visit those sites. We will encourage the Tanzanians who partnered with us in this work, teach about water and sanitation, and with passion and power preach about a different kind of water — the Living water that gives true life. What an honor and privilege!

We are also taking reading glasses for leaders. Many of them cannot see clearly to read God’s word and they would not usually go to town to pay for an examination and glasses. These reading glasses will help them see and hear Jesus more clearly. We will also use this opportunity to share in fellowship and encourage each other in the word. Thanks so much to all who donated reading glasses for this effort.

Many times in his ministry we find Jesus teaching about water and helping people see. Water and eyesight were and still are critically important to everyone. Jesus knew this and used both of them to help people find salvation. We are still following his example today and he even said that his followers would do greater things than he was doing (John 14:12).

Our good deeds bring glory to God according to 1 Peter 2:12. I pray that through these good deeds (wells and glasses) people will glorify Him. I pray that hearts will be opened to the good news and that many will come to know and follow our Lord Jesus Christ.

All this will happen over the Thanksgiving holidays, and we will share thanksgiving with the missionaries in Tanzania. In that light, I am thankful for all of you who helped make the water wells, eye clinics, and the whole trip possible. And I am also so thankful for the opportunity to GO on this mission of God with Michele, Judy Hutson, and Stephen and Cindy Medlicott. Pray for us! Pray for a great harvest!
