Growth

As a Christian, it is important to grow, to evolve, and to be different versions of yourself, all in an effort to please God. I think that as Christians we find ourselves trapped into thinking that we have arrived as far as faith goes. We sometimes hit a wall and think our work is finished in the kingdom, but our work is never done because the world always needs a savior and the body of Christ always needs vessels to be amongst people of the world. What am I getting at here? Well, sometimes we can get so caught in one identity our entire Christian walk and never leave room for God to change us completely, and for him to give us new experiences.

Whether you are 7 or 70 years old, we are still growing as God’s people and we need to be coachable and vulnerable. The Christian walk is something that we need to experience until the day we die. Being an active disciple and making disciples has no expiration date. Psalm 73:26 says “my flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever”. This simply humbles me and reminds me that no matter how skeptical I become when it comes to change and growth, it’s not up to me to withhold my strength throughout the process! God’s got me!

I’ve grown so much in my faith and maturing in him. God is continually revealing to me new identities that will help the kingdom thrive into all he desires through me. My identity in my mind has always been that of a musician background and at some point in life I thought that this identity was all there was to me and it was all I needed to be instrumental in the kingdom. But we all know God has a sense of humor from time to time and he tends to blow my mind with new elements of my identity. For example, in this season of my life, he is using me to speak life into people and their situations. I have always been afraid of speaking to people and public speaking in general. But my God is mighty to Save, Mighty to change, Mighty to Renew and my challenge for those reading this is to go back to the drawing board and pray this prayer with me:

“Father I love you and I want to be all that you want me to be. Father God, what area do you need me to grow in? What do you want me to change for your Glory? Lord let your will be done in my life. I may be fearful about this next season in my walk, but I know you will guide me every step of the way. For your glory, I will do anything! Please hear my prayer in Jesus’ name amen!”
