Faith

Have you ever found yourself in a situation that seemed extremely hard to endure?

Well I have…… July 2013, while on summer tour with my singing group, I had learned one night that my mother had been placed on hospice. Not knowing what hospice was really made me curious to learn about it. After researching that night I was really distraught and confused to why God would allow my Mom to struggle with her health (CANCER). I began to pray very hard in my Oklahoma kitchen for my mother who was all the way in California. The next day my mom passed away and I knew that there was nothing anybody could say or do to make me feel better. At that moment I knew that God was the only one who I could turn to for comfort and understanding. I had to have faith in that moment that the Lord Jesus would help through this very difficult storm in my life. I knew at that moment that only he could provide me the peace of mind I needed.

During that time I read (NIV) 1 Corinthians 10:13 which says: “No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it”. The message that stuck with me in this passage is that God himself being all knowing (omniscient) gives us these battles because he wants us to learn to fully lean on and trust in him. I also believe that God allows us to go through battles to strengthen our faith.

Hebrews 11: 1 says “Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.” Though I couldn’t see God working in my life I had to believe with all of my heart that God was working on my behalf to turn my trials into a testimony of faith. I had to realize how powerful God is and how he can fix any situation. When I let go, and let God have his way in my life, even after death my faith became stronger and there is no doubt in my mind that I would not be where I am am without him.

I want to encourage everyone to trust and have faith in God through the good and the bad. He has you covered in his blood.

Lastly, I want to share a song that is very close to my heart and it really ministers to me. The lyrics are really focused on what God can do and from his perspective. Here is the link to hear the song by Kim Burrell: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tBeepBb7GDI

The lyrics are:

If you only, knew the power
that I have and what I can do.
And if you only, if you only knew the truth.
All that I am, lives inside of you.

Chorus
I can do exceedingly, abundantly
Above all that you ever ask.
Ah, think of me whatever you need, I can be.
Therefore I say when you pray believe.
And you shall receive.

There is no limit to, what I can do.
I’m trying to get through to you.
Gotta get you to see
Read it in Mark 11:23
Say it, without doubt
And have faith in me.

I know that you
You have hopes and dreams
Oh yes you do.
And you have goals, that you want to achieve.
And I hope that you, ooh ooh ooh
I hope you know by now oow oww
That you can have everything you want.
Everything you need
If you take the limits off of me.
Because there’s nothing
Impossible to believe
Because I am God.
There no problem too great
That I can’t solve.
If only you would learn to put
Your trust in me.
Put all fear aside
And you will see.
