Time to Choose and Decide

In our country it is election time. Two ways, two directions, one man, one woman, two parties, and people that will choose and decide the course of this nation for the next four years or more. The time has come.

This election and decision is very important, but even more important is the decision and choice of what I wish for my future, my career, who to marry if single, and if married, what will I do along with my spouse, what I’ll do for my family, my children, my grandchildren, and even more with my relationship with God and His Son, where I’ll spend eternity.

The Holy Spirit reminds me that:

  1. My home is not of this world, that I have a God and King, a law that is His Word, a place and territory that is His church, that I have a specific a commandment, a mission, a calling, that I am chosen, that I have a neighbor.
  2. The prophet’s words: “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord. As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.”
  3. That I should change my thoughts: “whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable- if anything is excellent or praiseworthy- think about such things.”
  4. To renew my mind and be transformed: “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is-his good, pleasing and perfect will.”

Our King tells us: “In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” “By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” Do not let your hearts be troubled, if God is with me, who is against me?

God wants us to be encouraged and to trust. Be firm and persistent, and for us to let Him do His will in our lives. For us to search and place our eyes on the things from above, for us to be influential people in our communities taking love where there is hate and quarrel, bringing the gospel where there is no salvation.

We are God’s people.
