“There Is More!” That is our theme for 2019. More of what? More of God. More than you have experienced. More of His presence. We believe, not merely that God is. We believe that He is with us, in us and for us.
There is power in this… His power. Listen to Paul in 2 Corinthians 1:18-22.
Do you long for “more?” You will not find it by acquiring stuff. You will not satisfy it by seeking self fulfillment. You will not even find it in greater understanding.
Have you ever come to a point in your life where you said to yourself, “There has to be more?” There’s an ache and a longing inside you that you can’t quite put into words?
But what is the “more” that you long for? It can’t be just more of the same. It can’t be just more stuff, more money, or more self fulfillment. It can’t be just doing more of what you have been doing. I believe it can only come through knowing God more and discovering more of His plan and purpose in your life. I believe that we don’t have it in us to grab hold of the “more.” It has to come by and through Him. It’s Him. It’s all about Him.
A major theme in my prayer life this year has been the plea that God would empower me to see what He wants me to see and in the way that He wants me to see it. Within that prayer I have told Him that, more than anything He could give me, what I really want is Him. As with so many deep longings, there is a song that comes to mind. It goes, “Open the eyes of my heart Lord that I may see you.”
Can you even begin to imagine what it would be like to be completely happy? Can you imagine unbounded joy? Limitless energy? Total passion? Can you conceive what that would be like? No? Don’t feel bad. There are three good reasons why you can’t… three good reasons why we are not (yet) completely happy.
