Do you long for “more?” You will not find it by acquiring stuff. You will not satisfy it by seeking self fulfillment. You will not even find it in greater understanding.

“More” is your heart’s cry for God… and not just God, but the Living God. What you long for is His peace, His power and His presence in you and with you. What you long for is that He makes Himself known to you. And He has promised that very thing. Listen to Jesus’ words from Luke 11:9-13:

9 “So I say to you: Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. 10 For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.

11 “Which of you fathers, if your son asks for[f] a fish, will give him a snake instead? 12 Or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion? 13 If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him?”

God will give you more of what you need. But in the end “more” isn’t what He can give you. It’s who He can give you. It’s giving you Himself. He says, ”Ask. Seek. Knock!” I am hearing so many God stories from people at Singing Oaks who are doing just that. I’m hearing them in my Grow Group. People are coming into my office with their God stories. I heard one of the best stories ever at Starbucks a couple of weeks ago.

And I’ll tell you this: Every time I hear a God story I want more of Him. I know His love more. And I want to do more for Him. Our God is alive and our job is to experience that. He is alive in us. There is power when we share that.
