Who’s Your Ruler?

Who is your “ruler”? And just to clarify, I mean that both ways. Who is your ruler? And who is your Ruler?

I hope that the answer to both of these questions is the same.

1. ruler – measuring apparatus having a sequence of marks that is used as a reference in marking progress or making measurements

Keeping up with the Joneses has become a race of superficial measuring up and it’s only real reward is poverty and unhappiness. I don’t mean poverty like no money in our pockets. I don’t mean unhappiness like we lack enjoyment or amusement with our things. What I mean is while we are running the rat race to be equal to our peers, we are pursuing a measure of life that is well below the mark that God intended for us. With each quest to be liked, admired or even the envy of our neighbors and friends, we are measuring the success of our lives with a ruler that increases low self-worth, decreases satisfaction and allows moths and rust to destroy what we are questing.

Why Do I Need God?

Honestly, why do I need Him when I have everything? I’m pretty rich. I have access to so much that enriches (read: complicates) my life. When I’m hungry, I go to my fridge where I have a virtual smorgasbord of options to fill my belly. When I’m cold I can crank up the heater or wrap myself in the softest, most cozy blankets. His dream was of a united nation and not just for a nation but of a world filled with a united race of humans who lived in harmony with each other. No one could ever accuse him of not dreaming a Big Dream.

F.E.A.R.

What is F.E.A.R.?

F.E.A.R. only exists between my ears. It is a product of my wild imagination. It is the result of uncertainty. It is the response to the unknown. F.E.A.R. is not about faith. F.E.A.R. exists because we are unclear about our future. Thus our true future becomes the victim of our imaginations through a silly game of analysis leading to paralysis. The sum of our F.E.A.R. means that we miss out on so many life-changing experiences because we’re afraid.

A Slice of Heaven

What does heaven look like? No, I don’t mean the jasper and the gold and eternal light and that stuff. I guess what I’m asking is, what does heaven feel like?
