My experience as an apprentice this summer has been quite eye opening to say the least. Last summer I was very unsure of how to do this job and manage all of the responsibilities that followed. I now have more responsibility than I did this last summer, I thought I would be overwhelmed and cave under the pressure but by trusting God through it all I can say is it has deepened my trust in Him. Ministry with children is challenging but it is also rewarding.

I love kids; anyone who knows me can tell you it’s true. That is part of the reason I decided to do the children’s ministry apprenticeship. My favorite part of teaching is watching the kids grow and getting to watch their personalities start to emerge, see who they’re going to be in their walk with Christ even at such a young age. Teaching such a young group has its challenges, such as keeping everyone’s attention one thing at a time. Even though I am the one teaching these kids, they have been teaching me as well. The Lord has shown me this summer how to experience joy like a child, living carefree in the moment, and most importantly patience.

I’ve seen God in so many ways this summer through working with children, being a camp counselor, teaching two and three year olds and various other encounters. Seeing these children grow in their love of Christ is the most amazing thing I have seen by far. They have so many questions that I don’t always have the answers for. I pray that God continues to help me guide these children through this amazing opportunity I have been given to work in ministry.
