For His Glory, I Will Do Anything

As worship ministers and leaders we all have those in ministry we admire and learn from. One of my favorite mainstream worship leaders is Tasha Cobbs Leonard. I admire her because of her heart for God. You can see the love of God through her presentation. Her songs emphasize the idea of longing to be in God’s presence. I think about Ross’ sermon on Sunday March 11, 2018 and him saying that if we don’t acknowledge the miracles that God has performed in our lives, no matter how big or how small they are, then it becomes just about us and things we’ve done. This kind of idea completely takes away the Glory from God and places a spotlight on us. I believe that everything is God and God is everything. From the trees to the way the wind blows is all God, from the colors in the forest and its beauty, He is everywhere and without him we are nothing. So because he is the exact creator of our existence, why not give him all of the Glory?

As we go through our daily lives sometimes we forget to give God the credit for our successes and good things happening. When we first wake up in the morning our mindset should be “How can I glorify God in the best way possible”. Up until this point if this hasn’t been your mindset it doesn’t mean that you are a bad person or Christian. It just means that intentionality toward God has to become more prominent in our daily routine. Revelation 4: 11 says, “Worthy are you, our Lord and our God, to receive glory and honor and power; for you created all things, and because of your will they existed, and were created.” I think this passage of scripture gives us a reminder of his power.

To glorify God requires a true knowledge of his position in our lives. Who is God in your life? Does he hold the number one spot in your list of priorities? Is it a priority in your life to glorify him?

As human beings we all naturally have our preferences on what we like and don’t like. Better yet, as Christians we try to live by the good book and make sure we know it from front to back.

Well, glorifying God doesn’t just require us to be educated from the Bible, but true glory to God requires a relationship with him and a constant pursuit the Holy Spirit. It also requires us to make sacrifices for his name’s sake, for his church and most of all for his Glory. Tasha Cobbs Leonard has a song that hit the media in the year 2013 called “For Your Glory” and it says…

Lord if I find favor in your sight Lord please hear my hearts cry

I’m desperately waiting to be where you are, I’ll cross the hottest desert I’ll travel near or far

For Your glory I will do anything just to see you to behold you as my King

I wanna be where you are I really wanna be there I gotta be where you are

I wanna be where you are I gotta be where you are I wanna be where you are

Peace is where you are, Joy is where you are, and Love is who you are

These are such powerful lyrics that speak of the sacrifices we need to be willing to make to ensure that our God be Glorified. God is so faithful to us and sometimes gives us more than we deserve. He even lifts us up and gives platforms to those who may appear unqualified, but somehow he qualifies us while loving us. His spirit will challenge us and place us in positions that aren’t always comfortable, but because of who God is, we know the outcome. Let us become more intentional in glorifying God!

Isaiah 26:9 says, “At night my soul longs for You, Indeed, my spirit within me seeks you diligently; for when the earth experiences your judgments the inhabitants of the world learn righteousness.”
