Community Festival

Festival Time
We are one week away from our annual festival on the church parking lot. I am hoping for great weather and great attendance, all to the glory of God. Many of you have participated in this event in the past, and I am hoping for the same support this year. The festival is about fun, fellowship and service as we touch our community with the love of Jesus.

Fun and Fellowship and Fellowship
The fun element is usually pretty easy to achieve. Beau’s bounce houses are always a big hit among the younger kids. Elizabeth’s face painting, Michael’s barrel train and Sue’s horse rides are always very popular. Don’t forget about Joe’s animals. He’s brought some strange ones over the years, both large (camel) and small (baby kangaroo). This year I think he is bringing pigmy “somethings”. Joe’s full of surprises! Then there’s the dunking booth. You can come and dunk Ross and others. Who doesn’t want to do that?

One of the most popular games is the cake walk. We give away an unbelievable number of homemade cakes (I’m sure the ladies of the congregation will come through again this year). There is also a truck section for kids and adults. David’s bringing a brand new shiny Peterbilt truck. There will also be a fire truck, game truck for the kids and maybe food trucks for those who want to buy something extra. During all these activities people are talking, visiting, eating and laughing. It is always a great time of fellowship and sharing.

Service and Outreach
For many this is also a time of service. We need people in food serving, set-up and clean-up, security, parking, youth activities, and help with other games. We also need people to bake and bring cakes for the cake walk. All together more than 100 can participate in this event. This is a team effort and we need you. Service can touch lives. It opens hearts to the gospel and creates opportunities to talk about Jesus. I know that a number of people in our church have been influenced for Christ by the service rendered in this event.

We will not be standing and preaching the gospel at our festival, but people will hear words that soften hearts to the gospel. A friendly greeting, a warm welcome, or a kind word at the right time can have an amazing impact and even lead to the Word that can change lives for eternity. People will also see something. Guests will be see the gospel in smiling faces of God’s people as they greet, mingle and serve each other. As they see and hear, conclusions will be made about who we are and more importantly about who we follow.

I hope to see you there on Sunday, May 5, 4:00 to 7:00 pm. Welcome! Bienvenidos!
